Team Julian Grants $175,000 in 2014
Courage for Cures would like to thank everyone who helped us make 2014 our most impactful year yet as we granted a total of $175,000 to research, clinical trials and patient programs to support the bravest little superheroes in the fight for their lives.
The 4th Annual Brave Knight Benefit, our largest fundraiser of the year, brought in $90,000 in one very special night in November that marked the 4-year anniversary of Julian’s diagnosis. Rounding out the year were numerous fundraisers by inspired runners, kids soccer events, workplace charitable giving, birthday party dedications, shopping promotions and more.
Your courageous support turned into:
- $150,000 for several research grants approved by the DIPG Collaborative Medical Advisory Council; and
- $25,000 to patient support for children fighting brain tumors at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Since 2011, Team Julian has contributed $354,000 to pediatric brain tumor research and programs, and we’re not slowing down.
Next up, Courage for Cures will be a Foundational Leadership Partner at the 2015 DIPG Symposium at the Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago on April 24-25. The meeting brings together nearly 20 family foundations like ours to meet with the world’s leading researchers working to find cures for brain stem gliomas like Julian’s also known as diffuse intrinsic pontine gliomas (DIPG).
Stay tuned for news coming out of this important meeting regarding progress on research we’ve funded!
