The Julian Boivin Courage for Cures Foundation invites you to the 7th Annual Brave Knight Benefit for pediatric brain tumor research on Friday, November 10, 2017 at Pine Lake Country Club in West Bloomfield, Mich.
Guests will enjoy mixing and mingling over a champagne reception, strolling dinner, hosted bar, silent auction, live auction, raffle prizes and dancing. Cocktail attire is recommended.
Proceeds from the evening will fund research grants carefully vetted by the Medical Advisory Council of the DIPG Collaborative. Since 2012, Courage for Cures has been a Foundational Partner in The DIPG Collaborative, a collection of 30 family foundations with the shared mission of efficiently funding and inspiring DIPG research.
Also, in partnership with The ChadTough Foundation, Courage for Cures will lend support to the development of the Michigan Medicine Pediatric Brain Tumor Research Initiative in Ann Arbor, Mich., in an effort to bring a world-class pediatric brain tumor research and treatment center to our home state.
The event is inspired by Julian Boivin, a brave 5-year-old from Bloomfield Hills, Mich., who was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor at the age of four. The tumor, known as DIPG, is a dreaded disease with no known cause or cure, a heartbreaking prognosis of less than one year and a survival rate of less than 1%. Despite care from the best pediatric oncologists in the country, we lost Julian in 2011, two weeks after his 5th birthday and just seven months after diagnosis.
Courage for Cures carries on the fight Julian started raising more than $600,000 for research working to give kids a fighting chance against devastating brain tumors at outstanding institutions across the country and around the world.
