About the Foundation
The Julian Boivin Courage for Cures Foundation was founded as The Team Julian Foundation in March 2011 by friends of Julian’s family to support one little superhero in his battle against a deadly brain stem glioma. Upon losing Julian after only seven months and witnessing the heartbreaking realities of kids fighting cancer, his parents, Nettie and Brad Boivin, grew the foundation to take revenge on the disease that stole their son. In just three years, Team Julian has raised nearly $350,000 through special events, walks and runs to then support lab research, clinical trials and patient programs. In 2013, The Team Julian Foundation was renamed The Julian Boivin Courage for Cures Foundation to reflect its expanding efforts with the mission remaining the same.
The Julian Boivin Courage for Cures Foundation is a 501(c)(3) that exists to raise awareness and badly needed funds to arm kids with a fighting chance against the deadliest pediatric brain cancers. We seek out and support the most progressive partnerships and research dedicated to finding cures for devastating brain tumors like Julian’s brain stem glioma, also known as diffuse intrinsic pontine gliomas or DIPG.
To keep administrative fees to a minimum, Courage for Cures is completely volunteer-based so that your contribution supports those working to find breakthroughs in a field that falls short in attention and funding. Our hope is that we can play even a small role in putting an end to the most unacceptable words a family can receive: “no curable measures.”
